The question
Great program!! I am on the get lean program and am really noticing results. I have a few questions. After taking the tests and starting the program I have noticed that it doesn't seem that my body has enough time to recover for the next set. What is the advantage of having such short rest periods between set? I've noticed that I've had to significantly reduce weight on subsequent exercises because that particular muscle group is so burnt out from the previous sets. For instance on bench, I've had to take off about 15 lbs. from what was initially recommended and also had to reduce weight on the incline dumbell press, flies, and even lateral raises because my arms get really burnt out. Is this normal?? Why is it necessary??

Yes, it is very normal to have to drop down your weights significantly when you start one of the Get Lean programs. The reps and shorts rest periods really create a lactic acid build up. You will get used to it in a few weeks! The reason that the programs are set up this way is to maximize the workload and subsequent caloric burning affect during and after the actual workout. After the 12 week cycle on the Get Lean program you should move to one of the Strength and Power Express programs to really change up the stimulus to your body and to put the focus back on muscular strength and size. Be strict with your diet and you will continue losing bodyfat through the increase in your lean body mass. Give it a shot and work hard!
