Sprint Training and Foot Quickness

The question

I am using the track and field sprinter workouts and have really enjoyed them. On days between strength workouts, how hard can I work my legs in running, cycling, or other workouts without overtraining? Can I do quality workouts between strength training days or must I do them on the same day so that the legs can rest between strength workouts?

The best approach would be to alternate intensity levels in running workouts. You can cycle this cross-training so that when you have a very difficult week in the weight room, you'll want to ease off on the track. For example, cycle your high intensity sprint workouts during the "downloaded" easy weeks 5 or 10 of your iWorkoutSmart.com program. If your muscles are sore from running or lifting, it's not a good idea to try and fight through this pain. Soreness can be a sign of muscle damage. This can be useful to determine how difficult the workout was, but shouldn't be ignored. Without allowing proper recovery time for this soreness to subside, you definitely risk overtraining. So, if you're constantly sore it's a good sign you need to back off a bit. Hope this helps\!
